Deming Works is a DLCED initiative that highlights the industries of Deming that work hard to feed, clothe, and build the world around us. This initiative is intended to:

The Deming Police Department Explorer program is designed to provide hands-on, real-world experience to young men and women interested in law enforcement. Our curriculum is designed to complement classroom studies and enables explorers to develop marketable leadership skills in any profession. The program is intended to develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills as well as provide scenario based experience in law enforcement.
We are always excited to collaborate with local partners to give employers the opportunity to showcase their business to eligible job seekers!

DLCED hosts a single fundraiser each year to boost the efforts of the organization. The Board has found a fun way to bring businesses and community together through the Annual DLCED Golf Tournament. We thank our participants and sponsors alike for a fun 10th Annual Tourney!
Camp Innoventure is an annual event sponsored by Capital Power, Deming Public Schools, and the City of Deming brought to you by DLCED in collaboration with NM Arrowhead Center. The one-week camp takes place in the summer where 6th grade students are able to learn about starting a business, operating a business, and selling their products!
Included in the camp is a workbook, general marketing materials, and a $50 gift card for purchasing items to create a product.
This year's camp will be June 24-28, 2024 from 9 AM -12 PM. Seats are limited, get registered for free today!

DLCED is a proud to support the Luna County Skate Committee in their program that works to:
1) engage the local skate community and host skate competitions
2) enhance and expand the local skate park and facilities
We love the diverse community we live in and creating opportunities for all by collaborating!
Own Your Future is non-traditional approach to educating the underserved community of Deming, Luna County, NM that establishes the mindset that you can be anything you WORK toward. This education and outreach is done through specific segments aimed at building an individuals confidence, skillset, and helping the individual understand the theory behind some of the most common employment practices.
· Soft-Skills and accountability coaching
· Interview Skills and preparation through mock interviews, skits, and analytical breakdown of why certain questions are asked in an interview
· Dressing for success and how to dress for the job you want
· Education on local/regional/state/federal resources available to achieve goals
· Local employment opportunities and access to local employers who serve as mentors
· Testimonials – we all have a road to success, and none of them look the same
Ultimately, this leads to: individuals: enrolled in college or certificate programs, utilizing work programs, starting their own businesses, becoming employed.
Lemonade Day Luna is a national partnership brought to Deming by the Deming Luna County Chamber of Commerce. Youth (kinder-5th grade) are encouraged to join the program and learn all about what it takes to be a business owner. The program is free to the public because of some generous community sponsors. DLCED is excited to work with local partners such as the Lescombes Family and Copper Kettle Coffee to host a Sample Night for our young entrepreneurs. During Sample Night, youth will be able to come get creative and test different types of fruits, syrups and more in their lemonade and determine what you think will be the best seller!
Back by popular demand, we are excited to jump-start our community business series. DLCED was awarded a USDA grant that is allowing is to re-engage and connect with our favorite people -- our community!

DLCED hosts business roundtables throughout the year to engage our business community and hear first hand what the needs are at an industry and employer level.
Our membership meets annually at DH Lescombes Winery for a recap of the year and an overview of what's coming up next!
Formerly known as the "Health Career Academy" the HEAL program offers high school students the opportunity to learn about what it takes to enter the healthcare industry.
Help- students learn the value of volunteering at local non-profits, the college application experience, and different programs that can get them to their desired career path.
Experience- Students get the opportunity to do site visits to different healthcare institutions in Deming. If they choose to continue in the program, they will even get to do job shadowing rotations.
Attitude - Students will learn how challenging the healthcare industry careers are and how important it is to always treat patients and colleagues with respect and dignity.
Learn - The 4-year summer program is designed so that students take one college level course during the summer and get dual-credit through Western NM and Deming Public Schools.
